Green is the Best Color

I’ve always wondered how green screen photography was discovered. Did someone practice taking pictures in front of different colors to see what they would do? I’ve heard that they used a blue screen in film making for many years before the green one but they found out that green was actually a better color to use when digital cameras became popular. It is amazing that such technology is changing all the time. Just when I think I understand how something works, a new and improved item takes its place. Who would have ever guessed that the color green would be the best color for adding special effects to a photo or movie at a later time?
