Getting the first date

I have not been a people person for my whole life. I am normally one of those quiet people who only talks to people that I already know. The problem with that is I hardly ever meet anyone new. My friends are always handing out dating tips to me. My issue is that I never know what to do to get that first date. Well my best friend gave me a good tip the other day and it actually worked out for me. I asked a girl out that I liked and she told me yes. I hope that the date goes well.
